Job Summary:

The Network Manager is responsible for the design, implementation, and management of the organization’s network infrastructure. This role ensures that all network systems are reliable, secure, and optimized to meet the business’s needs. The Network Manager also handles contracts, agreements, and the procurement of IT hardware and services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Management of IT Infrastructure, Network, & Telecoms: Provide professional, effective, and competent management of IT infrastructure, network, and telecoms support services.
  • Network and ICT Resource Monitoring: Monitor, manage, and plan for changes in the school’s ICT resources for safe and effective use by pupils and staff.
  • Advanced Technical Support and Procedures: Define procedures and provide advanced technical support in line with the school’s ICT support service definition.
  • Records and Configuration Management: Keep all records and backups of IT infrastructure, servers configuration information, network diagrams, IP information, and telephone configurations, including confidential admin passwords.
  • Network Security and Safeguarding: Regularly monitor, report, and manage the security and safeguarding of all systems and programs within the school.
  • Domain Administration and Network Services: Administer and maintain network services such as DHCP, DNS, Active Directory, Group Policy, Google Classroom, and MDM.
  • User Management and Security: Manage over 5000 domain users, apply best practices for security, and perform routine tasks to maintain user accounts and permissions.
  • Backup Management and Disaster Recovery: Manage the backup system, ensure its effectiveness, and conduct disaster recovery evaluations.
  • Network Cabling and Client Configuration: Install and maintain standard network cabling, perform diagnostic and recovery routines, and configure network clients with appropriate server information and software.
  • Server and Hardware Maintenance: Maintain hardware and software on servers, set disk space, backups, printer quotas, and monitor system logs.
  • Network Design and Implementation: Design and implement network infrastructure to meet the school’s requirements.
  • Active Network Component Management: Manage active network components, including switches, routers, and bridges; install additional servers and upgrade network operating systems.
  • Remote Access and VPN Management: Manage and support remote access and VPN services.
  • Internet Filtering and Security: Maintain internet filtering systems, examine IT systems for potential threats, and manage security breaches.
  • Technical Reporting and Analysis: Prepare IT and network reports, and analyse new IT techniques.
  • Environmental and Compliance Management: Organise the disposal of obsolete equipment in compliance with regulations and manage network and infrastructure updates.
  • General Network Maintenance: General maintenance of the network, including switches and patch panels.
  • Physical IT Infrastructure Work: Manage the installation of network cables, phone lines, camera cables, and shifting floor boxes under instructions.
  • Vendor and External Telecom Liaison: Liaise with external telecommunications providers and manage technical partnerships.

Job Specification:

  • Computing degree or engineering degree (Required)
  • At least 5 years of relevant Experience (Required)
  • MSCA Server 2016 (Required)
  • CCNA (Required)
  • AWS certification (Desirable)
  • Azure certification (Desirable)
