Job Purpose:

This is a senior post within the Marketing Department of the Organization. This post is responsible for the development and implementation of the marketing and advertising plans for all Organization University programmes, including generation of enquiries, conversion, and recruitment.

To be responsible for the Marketing Strategy and team, managing cross-Organization services to both external and internal customers with particular focus on publicity, brand image, on-line media, promotional material and Organization events.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • To create and implement the annual marketing and communication plan.
  • To support Programme Leaders and their curriculum areas in the development of marketing and communications tools / activities that proactively promote courses, student achievements, facilities, new innovations, etc.
  • To raise the profile of the Organization and enhance the Organization’s reputation.
  • To ensure the team is maximising on and off-line marketing opportunities using innovative communication channels, to promote the Organization provision.
  • To undertake and coordinate the provision of market intelligence to provide insights into market conditions, pricing, portfolio development, competitor activity and customer behaviour in the UK marketplace.
  • To prepare an external events strategy and to manage the planning, delivery and evaluation of student recruitment events.
  • To manage and monitor all internal marketing to ensure consistent brand image.
  • To oversee the production of all Organization prospectuses including course information, photography, design, print and distribution.
  • To oversee the entire creative process, including copy writing where needed, for advertising, publicity and marketing campaigns, creating full campaigns to aid the recruitment and retention of students and uphold the Organization brand.
  • To lead in developing and managing effective contacts with regional schools and Organizations.
  • To manage the budget of the programme marketing function, ensure purchase orders are raised and that Organization’s Finance regulations are adhered to.
  • To manage the content, use and distribution of printed and electronic student recruitment marketing material.
  • To manage the development and implementation of marketing and advertising campaigns to generate enquiries, convert enquirers.
  • To oversee the enquiries and conversion progress and to ensure it is in line with the aims of Faculties and the objectives of the Organization.
  • To ensure the Organization’s website is up-to-date and appealing to its target audience for the purpose of marketing, promotion of courses, their successes and inspiring potential students to participate in the full Organization experience. Also to contribute, manage and monitor the Organization’s social media activities to ensure wider market reach and to build and grow a larger audience base.
  • To measure the effectiveness of the Organization website and social media platforms through qualitative and quantitative statistical analysis and report recommendations for improving the service
  • To oversee the production of high quality, accurate marketing materials, ensuring compliance with equality and diversity regulations, availability in a variety of formats and suitability for students with disabilities.

  • To manage and be accountable for the performance of marketing staff.
  • To participate in the recruitment and selection process for new staff in accordance with the development of the Organization and in conjunction with HR.
  • To provide and support induction for new staff, contract and agency. Facilitate re-induction for existing staff.
  • To manage the process of probation and appraisal for the team, act on the outcomes and link to training and development plans
  • To report and manage staff absence. In the event of short-term staff absence ensure appropriate duties are covered within the area to ensure disruption is kept to a minimum and in the case of long-term absence, to ensure appropriate staff are put in place.
  • To keep up to date with relevant legislation, procedures and techniques for the efficient executing of the role.
  • To present and promote an appropriate public image in representing the Organization.
  • To work closely with the Admissions Department and the Student Union to manage and deploy Open Days.
  • To prepare an annual marketing report to facilitate strategic decision making by management.

Person Specification

Essential Qualifications

  • Degree (or Level 5 equivalent) in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field.
  • Professional marketing qualification (e.g. CIM) or working towards.

Essential Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ relevant marketing experience.
  • Proven experience managing integrated marketing campaigns.
  • Experience of managing staff and budgets.
  • Experience in PR, events management, and digital marketing.
  • Strong copywriting and content development skills.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience within the education sector.
  • Experience managing website and social media platforms.
